Property podcasts are booming, and it’s easy to see why.
Doing the dishes, pounding the pavement, or stuck in traffic ... you can be learning about property investment through a pair of earphones.
More property and investment podcasts are popping up, but with so many choices how do you know which ones are worth your time?
So we’ve done the hard work for you and rounded up the top five property podcasts in the country.
To make the cut these podcasts must release new episodes and offer something unique.
And if you agree (or disagree) with any of these, have your say down in the comments section.
First on the list is the Property Academy Podcast.
Now, you should know this podcast is produced by Opes Partners … that’s us, the website you're on right now.
I’ve agonised over whether to put our podcast on the list because I don’t want to come across as too self-promotional, but here’s why it’s on the list.
Over the last 5 years, the Property Academy Podcast has consistently topped Apple’s business charts.
It frequently outranks most of the other podcasts on this list ... the show has clocked up over 9.7 million downloads.
It also has a unique format: the Property Academy Podcast has a new 10-15 minute episode every single day. That means you can get a quick hit of property investment knowledge every morning.
The show is short, sharp and high energy. The hosts have the right balance because they come from different backgrounds. Andrew has substantial experience in property investment, owning more than 40 properties; Ed is an economist who provides market analysis.
If there is a property investment topic you want to learn more about … chances are they’ve covered it.

Next up is the NZ Property Market Podcast.
This show’s created by the NZ branch of CoreLogic, an international data firm.
Nick Goodall and Kelvin Davidson host the podcast. Kelvin is a trained economist and Nick is CoreLogic’s Head of Research and a self-confessed data nerd.
So the show is data-heavy; it’s the perfect fit if you want the latest property market data.
And this show isn’t just about property investment; it’s about property data so investors and homeowners will enjoy it.
They generally produce 1-2 episodes a week, which are about 30 minutes long.

The OneRoof Radio Show is a weekly podcast produced by Newstalk ZB.
This podcast is different from the rest because it’s live audio from a regular Newstalk ZB radio show.
Tim Beveridge hosts the show, and each week he has a new guest who discusses property news and answers listeners’ questions.
That's another unique side of this show. Because it’s produced by Newstalk ZB there is a “talk-back” section. Real listeners call up and the expert guests to answer their questions.
One of our very own – Ed McKnight – often features as a guest on the podcast and live radio show.

At No.4 we have the only Australian podcast to make this list.
Although this is a list of Kiwi podcasts, The Property Couch gets a mention. That’s because it was popular with Kiwis before many of the other podcasts on this list started.
Hosts Bruce Holdaway and Ben Kingsley produce a 1 to 1.5-hour show each week. That makes Property Couch episodes the longest on this list.
Because The Property Couch started well before 2016, they have a large backlog (over 460 episodes).
That means even the most committed fans will always find an episode to enjoy. The hosts have an easy-going conversational style and often banter about current events and the weekend’s sport.
But, because it’s an Australian show, some of these events are less relevant to Kiwis.

The last podcast to make our list is the Property Apprentice Podcast.
Debbie Roberts hosts the show. She is the co-owner of Property Apprentice – a renovations coaching company.
The show has a mix of episodes. In some Debbie brings guests on, so they tend to be about 20 minutes long. In others it’s just her on the mic, which are usually under 10 minutes.
Debbie has an easy, down-to-earth speaking style. This makes property investing concepts easier to understand.
She also tends to cover topics aimed at people at the very start of their journey. She will often cover strategies for those who earn lower incomes or don’t have a lot of equity.
This makes the podcast great for beginners who want to get to grips with the basics.
This podcast comes in at No.5 because they don’t have a consistent broadcasting schedule.

The right podcast for you depends on what you’re looking for.
If you’re after quick, digestible insights, The Property Academy Podcast is a great pick.
If you want in-depth data analysis, The NZ Property Market Podcast is your go-to.
And for a question and answer format, The OneRoof Radio Show is a good choice.
Whichever you choose, tuning in regularly can help you stay ahead in the property game. The best thing to do is pick one and see how you find it after a few episodes.
